Competition Rules
The following are the rules for submitting images for competition.
NOTE: The governing body of Peak Digital Imaging Society reserves the right to change the rules at any time and with short notice or to modify the rules for specific competitions.
- Images are to fit the categories heading for the competition entered. Subject matter can be creatively interpreted. Open means that you can enter any image subject of your choice.
- All images need to be of a digital nature at some point in the process of making the image.
- Originated from a digital camera.
- Scanned from negative or print.
- Drawn on the computer.
- Digital video.
- Printed from a computer file.
- All images are to be free standing and able to display in gallery style displays. Following are a few recommendations:
- Images can be matted with a backing.
- Have a sturdy back with print going edge to edge.
- Images can be of any size we recommend that the artist print at an optimal size for the subject and content.
- All images and portions of images are to be of the creative process of the person entering the image. (The only exception to this rule is when the group outlines variations in advance!)
- You may not enter any image that has a copyright held by another person, group or entity unless you created it and they give express permission for you to enter the image.
- You may only enter up to three images in each category unless otherwise stated.
- In most competitions there is a nominal entry fee. Please make sure you pay the fee as it covers the expenses for the competition activities.
- Membership in the club is free! Attendance at competition and other club functions are also free! We may meet some place that charges a fee.
- All Judges Decisions are FINAL!
COMPETITION RECOMMENDATIONS
- Print the name of the image on the front of the image in the lower right corner of the matt or image.
- Print your name and the subject category on the upper left back of the image.
- Matt and/or frame the image in such a way that enhances or improves the image.
- Be creative in interpreting the category but be aware that the judge may not see it the same way that you do and may disqualify the image due to it not fitting the category. All judges’ decisions are final.
- Read the document that talks about image composition.
- Have fun making lots of images, and bring them to share with the group and invite your friends.
Thanks
